OUR CATCHES IN WATER OF SALENTO
Depending on the technique used, the target species can vary significantly. With coastal bottom fishing, for example, it is possible to catch many of the species that inhabit the Mediterranean seabed. Among the most common catches are pandora, red porgy, scorpionfish, and many other species typical of these waters. These trips often provide fun moments and are also perfect for those who want to experience sea fishing for the first time.
Vertical techniques, on the other hand, allow anglers to target larger predators. In these waters it is not uncommon to encounter large groupers, such as impressive dusky groupers or white groupers, which can reach truly remarkable sizes. Some catches can exceed 50 kg, offering intense and unforgettable fights.
The Salento sea is one of the richest marine environments in the Mediterranean and offers great opportunities for those who love sport fishing. During our trips it is common to encounter some of the most fascinating species of the Mediterranean, creating exciting moments for the guests on board.
The fishing techniques used vary depending on the season, sea conditions and the type of seabed. Among the main techniques practiced during our trips are coastal bottom fishing, deep bottom fishing, vertical techniques, surface trolling, deep trolling, offshore trolling, and tuna drifting.
One of the most exciting and productive techniques practiced in the waters of Salento is deep trolling, which can lead to truly remarkable catches.
One of the absolute stars of this technique is the dentex, a voracious predator capable of delivering unforgettable thrills, especially when large specimens are involved. Dentex can easily exceed 10 kg in weight, providing powerful and memorable fights.
Another highly sought-after species when deep trolling is undoubtedly the amberjack, often considered the queen of the Mediterranean. These fish can vary greatly in size, from just a few kilograms to specimens exceeding 60β70 kg. They are extremely clever and incredibly strong fighters, and even smaller fish can provide spectacular battles.
With surface trolling and offshore trolling, it is possible to encounter pelagic species such as mahi-mahi (dolphinfish), amberjack, little tunny, and needlefishβfast and powerful predators that offer exciting and entertaining fights for anglers.
During some offshore fishing trips, tuna drifting is also practiced, an exciting technique that allows anglers to target one of the most powerful fish in the Mediterranean: the bluefin tuna.
